A man wakes up to find a random dog in need of help in his living room, eventually adopting her
Most people adopt a dog after long-term consideration, planning, and research. They will then spend some time getting to know their furry friend and if the shoe fits, the lucky dog becomes part of the family. However, for Jack Jokinen from Fishtown, Philadelphia, it did not quite go according to plan.
It was 4 a.m. on Saturday, and Jokinen suddenly woke up to find his wife standing beside him with unusual news. Their 1-month-old daughter is fine, but there is a strange dog in their living room.

When Jokinen told The Dodo, “I was sleeping, and my wife suddenly woke me up and she said,” The baby is okay … but there is a puppy in our house. “Obviously, I’m confused.”
At first, Jokinen thought that there was some misunderstanding. Flustered, he casually descended the stairs and immediately noticed a lean little Lab mixture sitting in the middle of the living room – wet, shivering, and suffering. He couldn’t understand how the puppy got in.

He told The Dodo, “The first thing I thought was, ‘There must be someone in our house. So I ran a security sweep, ensuring no one was hiding in a closet or anything like that. And when I finished, I thought, ‘How did this happen? A magical puppy? ”
After checking the security footage of the house from the front door camera, he found himself coming home after taking his 2-year-old dog George for a walk that evening. After entering, he closed the door. However, it was not locked. So later on, the wind was able to blow it away.

The video has solved the mystery. At around 3:15 am, a dog limped down the sidewalk that passed Jokinen’s house and then doubled back to look up the stairs leading up to the house. She walked and turned one last time before cautiously up the five steps and through the open front door.
About half an hour later, someone passing by noticed that the front door was open in the video. The Good Samaritan went up to the house, checked that everything was all right, and closed the door. As Jokinen noted, if the stranger hadn’t done that, Suzy probably wouldn’t have stayed

Both he and his wife dried the little dog and tried to make it comfortable. The following day, they called for animal control and quickly concluded that surrendering to a sick cat might not be the best option.
Instead, the couple took the “puppy” to the vet and they were shocked to be told that it was 7-9 years old!

“She was haggard, her teeth were all over the place, walking on three legs without a collar,” said Jokinen. “We thought,” If we just let this dog go, who knows what will happen? ”
Poor Suzy was crawling with fleas and ticks. Additionally, she suffers from foot infections as well as oral problems and lacks a microchip.

She is scared of everything and in a bad way.

When posting a photo of Suzy, Jokinen was surprised when the post went viral. Then, in less than two days, the family received a $ 15,000 contribution to cover the elderly dog’s medical bills.

After all the tests and vaccinations, she can finally get some rest.

They gave her a bath to get rid of the remaining fleas and dead ticks.

The best part of this incredible story is, Suzy now has a warm and safe home with a family that loves her – she will be able to live her golden years. In comfortable happiness!

“We were able to do all of this in large part thanks to the widespread of the internet,” says Jokinen. “In a way, this is not our dog – it is the dog of the Internet.”

Fortunately, Suzy chose that door to roam that night.
