Dog Can’t Ever Go To Bed Without Bringing Something To Make Him Feel Safe

Bentley’s favorite things were a stuffed dog and a tan blanket. When he first moved into his new home, he had both.

These two things smelled like his mom and siblings, but even after the smell was gone, the puppy still loved them. When it was time for Bentley to relax and go to bed, he would grab one of these two things and fall asleep happily.

Now that Bentley is almost 2 years old, he sleeps with his blanket every night in a cute way. Before going up to his parents’ room for bedtime, the dog will get something extra to cuddle with.

Bentley’s mom, Kelly Madsen, told The Dodo, “I think it’s cute and funny that he brings things with him, so we don’t mind.” “In fact, we’re counting on it.”

Even though his parents might not like having the extra things in bed, at least he cleans up after himself. “He also usually carries the item back down the stairs in the morning,” Madsen said.

Bentley’s old blanket and stuffed dog are now all torn up, so the dog has started to look for new bedtime friends elsewhere. Now, he brings whatever he’s most interested in at the time.

Each phase will last about a week, and then the puppy will start looking for a new bed partner.

Madsen said, “He’ll bring his blanket, stuffed llama, and a big stuffed moose.” “In the past, he’s brought tennis balls, bones, peanut butter jars, one of our couch pillows, his own bandanas, and so on.

But this isn’t the only odd thing about Bentley. When the dog goes outside to use the bathroom, he also brings toys with him. Madsen and her husband call these items “Pee Buddies” or “Bed Buddies” for Bentley.

Bentley has no idea why he needs more company when he’s doing his business.

“Our only guess is that he has separation anxiety because he likes to be close to me or my husband, which could make him feel better,” said Madsen.

Bentley’s parents wouldn’t change a thing about how funny their dog is, even if it means that a giant moose toy sometimes sleeps in their bed with them.

Madsen said, “He is the most loving and funny dog there is.” “My husband and I talk about how lucky we are to have Bentley almost every night. He has brought us so much love and happiness.”
