Dog In shelter For 5 Years Will Soon Become Star Of New Billboard To Find A Forever Home

This animal shelter in Kansas City tried everything they could think of to find this dog named Merrick a home. But nobody wanted him. They tried social media posts, photo shoots, videos, and other stuff. But nothing has worked. It’s unbelievable that such a sweet dog has been alone for so long. The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City had been trying to find Merrick a home for almost five years.

Dogs are a man’s best friend. They are loyal, loving, and kind. However, not all dogs get the recognition they deserve. One such dog is Merrick. Nobody knows for sure why some dogs get overlooked in shelters, but the longer they are there, the harder it is to find them a home.

No one should give up on Merrick. He’s been with the Humane Society for 1,675 days. That’s a long time. But it’s not too late to help him. President and CEO Kate Fields isn’t giving up on the dog. She has hope that Merrick will find a home.

She said: ““Merrick has been here with us 1,675 days. But I’m not giving up on him and nobody should,”

Merrick is living in a shelter, but he’s not completely alone. Every day, 15 volunteers come and play with him, but they can’t replace a family. Here’s what the shelter says:

“They love him and they spoil him, but he needs that family environment, that individual love, that connection. He’s not getting that here.”

In an attempt to find a home before the holidays, the shelter’s innovative idea was to post a billboard with Merrick’s face on it to find him a home. The billboard will be placed in Kansas City soon.

Scott Poore, an animal advocate and the owner of Mission Driven, is truly hopeful that Merrick will finally find his forever home.
