It was the firefighters who made the hairy man a member of the squad after they adopted him from the Fire Department.

The furry’s role was to defend the station while the men were in charge of receiving calls and dealing with danger, but that doesn’t mean Black’s task was insignificant… Quite the opposite!

The puppy was used as an aid dog, helping firemen deal with the stress of their jobs and the tough emergencies they had to deal with.

During those trying times, Negro was by the uniformed mens’ side, wagging his tail, leaping, and ripping out one or more sweets. Everyone in the room was paying close attention to a dog.

Negro went through a difficult season that damaged his health, and at the age of 14, he decided to hang his wings and bid farewell to this world, as revealed by the gang in a social media post:

“Today in the morning, a difficult decision was made as a Company, at 6:20 p.m. due to the delicate health of his health, one of our ranks, our faithful four-legged Firefighter, left this land, thank you very much for all the years that you were with us, we will remember you forever Black,” they wrote.

The dog was not only a member of the Fire Department, but he also took part in formal events, company academies, and Crispn Reyes youth brigade. The fact that his departure displaced more soldiers than firemen from the city speaks to how popular he was among the people of this city.

The fireman’s small dog is a symbol of courage, sacrifice and devotion, and he exemplifies those qualities.

The small dog that captured the hearts of all the Iquique firemen was burned with an urn of his size and training.

“Negro was a member of this family, one of us.” He was respected, liked, and adored like any other fireman in our company, which was extremely painful, and we bid farewell to him in a very emotional ceremony since we were firing another of ours, who was also an essential part of this company,” stated Captain Jorge Tapia.

The tiny dog was given the title of “Honorary Firefighter” because of the excellent work he did in his ten years of care.

“He was granted the position of Honorary Firefighter at an exceptional meeting of officers, which is the highest accolade that our firemen earn after they finish 14 years in our company.” He was with us for 14 years, having arrived as a puppy at our first barracks. “Negro got in the car and came with us when we transferred to our present barracks on Calle Playa El Guila,” the captain remembered.
