Non-walking Chihuahuas become best friends within flightless pigeons and their pictures are adorable

Dogs constantly surprise us with the friendships they are incapable of forming. They continuously show us that creating a tight bond doesn’t require any prerequisites or have any boundaries.

Enter: Herman and Lundy. In what can often be an unlikely friendship outside of the cartoon world – Lundy, an inaccessible Chihuahua puppy turned best friend with Herman. The pigeon can’t fly.

It all started when the adorable duo met through Mia Foundation, a New York-based rescue organization specializing in the recovery of animals with congenital disabilities and physical defects. They are a non-profit organization and rely on donations to continue their work of saving lives.

Herman was saved more than a year ago in a car dealership parking lot, where he was sitting still, motionless, for three days. He was on the “death threshold” before realizing he was suffering from nerve damage and was unable to fly.

Local wildlife rescuers say rehab for Herman is impossible, and he will need to be licensed, but Sue Rogers, founder of The Mia Foundation, didn’t want to let that happen, so she solved the problem on her own and decided to take care of him herself.

Lundy, a chihuahua puppy, recently arrived at the center after being sent there by her breeders because he couldn’t use his hind legs – a condition known as swimmer syndrome. Rogers suspected the puppy’s difficulty with walking was due to the damaged spinal cord.

Herman usually lies in his baby crib most of the day but regularly rests outside to keep him aroused. During this time, Sue decided to bring the two together and saw the couple cuddling almost immediately.

In an interview with WHEC TV, she said;

On Thursday night, I took Herman out of the barn to give him time to hang out, and I put him in a dog bed. Then I had to be inclined to Lundy, so I brought Lundy in with him.

They just looked adorable to each other, so I took some pictures and posted them on FB, and the following day it went crazy.

Online users worldwide love their newly found friendship, with the post going viral instantly, attracting tens of thousands of likes and comments.

“From just one simple photo of a shared pigeon and puppy, we have raised more than $ 6,000.

Herman is living his life even though he can’t fly, so for sure, he’ll be the perfect role model for Lundy. He can give Lundy comfort and hope while the poodle copes with paralysis, showing him that anything is possible when you have people who care about you.
