Rescuers Battle Lightning Storm To Bring Abandοned Sisters To Safety

Katelyn Mannion, Kim Reid, and Fiona Mc Clintock were unfazed by the ominous lightning that streaked over the dark blue and black sky.

They sensed that two terrified German shepherd sisters needed assistance somewhere in the wilderness. And they would not cease searching until they were located.

The team, who frequently assist in the rescue of abandοned animals in Fermanagh, Ireland, acted immediately upon learning about the dogs. The three-day hunt led them through deep forests and fields.

On day three, the team began to fear that the dogs might never be found.

Mannion told The Dodo, “We were feeling a little depressed because we couldn’t get close to them, and we just wanted to bring them to safety.”

They discovered the sisters hiding in a local farmer’s shed. At last, the hounds came into view.

“It was a tremendous, overpowering sensation of sheer happiness and elation,” stated Mannion. “We were still afraid for their safety, but we were ecstatic that they were in a protected environment. There were undoubtedly some tears.”

The sisters were given the names Thora and Levina and were instantly rehabilitated. Lost Paws NI offered to cover the cost of veterinary care, while Little China Dog Rescue gave a safe haven. The crew was delighted that both groups offered assistance so quickly.

This relieved us of so much stress, and we were able to enjoy our time with them to the fullest. It was nearly euphoric!

Eventually, the dogs began to view humans differently.

“Once they were apprehended and given the necessary medication and treatment, they began to exhibit more of their own identities,” Mannion added. “They went from avoiding people to requesting more cuddles.”

The dogs are currently living in foster homes, where they will remain until they are adopted.

The rescue team is ecstatic that the girls’ story has a happy conclusion, but they still do not know where the sisters originated from.

“We could not have asked for a better outcome,” Mannion added. They are very content and aware of how much they are cherished.
