Senior Rescue Dog Takes His Role As ‘Best Pup’ Very Seriously

Rocky was the first thing Sophia Coleman saw when she went on her first date with Josh, who is now her husband. She fell in love with the little senior dog right away, and she eventually fell in love with Josh as well. Rocky has been there for them the whole time they’ve been together, so when they started planning their wedding, they knew they wanted him to be a big part of it.

“We’ve had ups and downs in our relationship, and Rocky has always been there to remind us what real love is, so there was no question that he had to be a part of the wedding,” Coleman told The Dodo.

They decided that Rocky would be “best puppy” and “ring bearer” during the ceremony. They got him a little suit to wear, and between the suit and the “blep” he always had because he was missing some teeth, he looked great. Is there anything cuter than a dog whose tongue is sticking out while wearing a tiny purple tie? Most likely not.

Rocky was supposed to carry the rings down the aisle in front of all the wedding guests, which the couple didn’t think would be a big deal. Even though Rocky is sometimes a cranky old man, he loves people very much.

“Even though he’s only 13, he’s a pretty spunky little guy,” Coleman said.

When the day finally came, Rocky took most of his assignments very seriously.

Coleman said, “It took a lot of treats and coaxing to get him to walk down the aisle in front of 80 people.” “He did great at the rehearsal when no guests were there, but at the real ceremony, the guests were a little distracting! I think he was hoping that everyone would give him treats.”

Once Rocky got to the front of the church, he stood by his parents’ side as they got married. He wasn’t too much of a bother. Even though everyone liked seeing the couple get married, it’s possible that they liked Rocky being there even more.

Coleman said, “Everyone loved seeing him in his cute little suit.” “There was a lot of happy laughter as he walked down the aisle. He was really the main attraction!”

Rocky’s job was done when the ceremony was over, so his parents sent him to the bridal suite to get some rest. Rocky, on the other hand, wasn’t too keen on that idea, and he found a way to show up at the reception as well.

Coleman said, “He was still in the same building as the party, but we thought it would be best for him to get some rest and we didn’t want anyone to trip over him.” “At one point, he did break through the baby gate and get away when the bridal suite door was opened. He found my husband and me right away. He wanted to be with us all night!”

In the end, Rocky played his parts the way he wanted to, and his parents wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
