Starving injured dog jumps into rescuer’s arms when he knows he’s safe

Howl Of A Dog volunteers were driving home from the veterinary clinic when they saw an injured dog hobbling on the side of the road. They stopped the car and sped toward him before he entered the dense undergrowth.

The poor dog was so desperate and stressed that rescuers tried their best to approach him gently. But instead of running away like other wild dogs, he ran right up to the volunteers, practically jumping into their arms.

Obviously, he wasn’t afraid of them. He seemed to realize that they weren’t bad people and that they were there to help him. Rescuers quickly brought the dog to the clinic to be examined and X-rayed.

The results showed he had a double fracture – two bones in his front leg were broken and needed surgical repair. Veterinarians estimated the fracture was at least a week old, and he was also severely emaciated.

It was heartbreaking to see how hard it was for him to survive days without food and with that broken leg. He was so malnourished that he was left with only skin and bones. He was so hungry that he tried to eat a box of tissues in the car while they were on their way to the clinic.

He underwent an operation, and thankfully it was a success. The broken bone was fixed with metal plates and screws. Everything went well and the dog recovered.

The puppy, now named Vlad, is being cared for by Howl Of A Dog in Romania. He is about two years old, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. He is full of joy and finds a lot of pleasure in everything he does. He really wants a home so he can live happily and healthily for the rest of his life.
