The dog randomly appeared on the family walkway and decided she’s theirs now

“The second time I patted her, she got crazy zoomies.”

Marcy Merritt was walking the dogs through a quiet area of the park, with no one around, when suddenly she spotted a stray dog. “I noticed she was watching from afar,” Merritt said. “At first, I was apprehensive, did not know what to do.”

However, Merritt’s nerves quickly dissipated as soon as the dog caught up with them and made himself at home in the pack.

“The second time I patted her, she took the crazy zoomies and then didn’t leave us the rest of the way,” Merritt said.

In addition to her animals, two dogs, and two cats, Merritt had three pet dogs at home, and there was a sneaky suspicion that she was about to collect a fourth.

The dog happily continued the family walk with them and Merritt couldn’t help but laugh at the situation. She wasn’t looking for another pet dog, but somehow they always found her.

It is impossible to know precisely how long the dog has been wandering in the park and whether she will come across any other families along the way, but she seems to understand that this is the perfect family for her to join. As they neared the end of the trip, the stray dog rushed in front of her new family as if she knew where the car was and she was inside.

Once they all get in the car together, there’s no need to convince. The dog jumped right next to her new adoptive siblings, and from her expression, it was clear she couldn’t be happier about it.

“She acted like she was my dog,” Merritt said. “She was very comfortable and happy.”

The family returned home and the new dog settled into life immediately. She was excited to be in a place where she will be loved and cared for.

After scanning her microchip, they learned that her name was Venus, but unfortunately, her family never came to accept her. Instead, Merritt has taken the proper steps to nurture her officially, and Venus was quite happy about that.

“She has many applications from families for adoption,” Merritt said. “I will be her foster family until her eternal family adopts her.”

When Merritt went for a walk that day, she had no idea she was going home with another dog – but after meeting Venus, she had no choice.
